As we enjoyed the Mid Canada Boat Show in Winnipeg this past weekend we were lucky to sit through one of the Master Angler’s Fishing Tips for Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario Fishing. Mr Gord Pyzer spilled some of his Tricks he uses to pull in the big Walleye’s and Northern’s for the Tournaments.

80- 85% of the world record fish are caught 3 days of the full or dark of the moon. If the fish are not there, keep on moving! Walleye like Dim lighting and Dawn and Dusk are some of the key times to do some good fishing. Also the Moon Rise and Set are the best time of the day to be over you hot fishing hole. Some of the best fishing is seen 3 days of the Full or Dark of the Moon. Fish testing have shown fish will develop cataracts if they are only in bright lights within a short time.

What is the best time of year to fish, Fish have to eat all year round, the key is to fish where the fish are.

Buck Tail Popping in the Weeds-choose a Buck Tail with a mixture of Black coloring on it and aim for the water that is open of weeds and with a cast, pop and drop method work your way through. The jiggling of the weeds will add the greatest temptation to the Walleye as the strike are the Buck Tail.

Storm soft lure Swim Baits with one oz size, looking like a perch, six inches long. Toss it in the lake, let it hit the bottom, pull up and reel in slowly, let it drop again, repeat… the fish like to hit it on the bottom drop to the floor of the lake. Big Walleye fishing for the Pro’s.

If a bait looks too natural sometimes the fish will only follow it without striking. Change it up, Attracting the fish is easier than triggering the bite, Change the direction, noise, erratic bait will trigger the strike.
