When is the Ice Safe?

This entry was posted in MNR Reports.

This has been a hard freeze up so we took a look to see if we could find the facts. When is the ice safe!
Anything under 4 inches of clear ice is unsafe to support 200 pounds. So I told Denis he better stay off the ice! 🙂

5 inches – 800 pounds, one snowmobile
7 inches – 1500 pounds, a group of people
8 inches – 2000 pounds, one car
11 inches is recommended for light trucks.
