Ontario Ministry of NATURAL RESOURCES Queen’s Printer for Ontario tinted in Ontario Canada, SN 0383-5901 Annual Report For the year ended March 31, 1996 Minister of Natural Resources of the Province of Ontario.

Paul Fazekas, a senior fire officer in Red Lake, who received Canada’s Medal of Bravery and the Carnegie Medal for brav- ery from the Carnegie Hero Fund Conrwnission, for helping rescue two American anglers on Pakwash Lake. Fazekas hung from a skid, trying to pull aboard two anglers whose boat had cap- sized while MNR’s Chris Porter piloted the helicopter in high winds over the lake’s rolling waves. Fazekas fell in the water, but managed to right the boat. Then he helped MNR forester Roy Sidders, who was aboard the aircraft, transfer the anglers to the helicopter. The anglers were warmed up, dried out, treated for shock and were out fishing the next day.

Paul still lives in Red Lake today. Way to Go Paul & Chris!
